About Me

I am Pierre Paul Cayer – the Dream Walker. You don’t choose a life, you live one.

My big dream is to walk around the world in 7 years. Thankfully, for the past 2 years and 2 months, I have walked across Canada (from Vancouver, BC to St. Johns Newfoundland) and from the tip of North America at the Arctic Ocean all the way down to the tip of South America at Tierra del Fuego, Argentina through the valley of La Pataia, end of the world.

For my next trip, I will go to Europe on April 1, 2014 to start a journey to see over 70 countries on 5 continents. Starting in Ireland, I aim to end in Japan, with trips to place such as Russia, China, Australia, New Zealand and other African countries in-between. Boy am I looking forward to the next 5 years!

Reflecting back, when I am walking around the world, people from big capital cities, towns, villages, countryside, and on the borders – they ask me this: “How many pairs of shoes do you wear?” “How old are you?” “Where are you going?” “Where did you come from?” “Are you travelling alone?” “May we take a picture with you?”

But most of all, they come out with this “Why are you doing this?” “What is the reason for your travel?”

Well, in my humble and simple way, I always told them that like a turtle on the road, I want to see the world and its people in a slow and majestic motion.

A world dressed in romantic roads and poetic scenery; framed and lighted by sublime colors; and charmed by historic culture and traditions. And also for the love and passion for adventure.

For a walker, they do have moments of danger, pain and loneliness. Yes, the elements of nature, weather and unknown territory can be sometimes very harsh. But always, always, the symphonic song of little birds, the sun, and the perfume of the human spirit comes out and all is forgotten.

In a world of advanced technology, fast cars, speeding motorcycles, high tech bicycles and fast foods, a walker is almost extinct and forgotten.

But a walker is the one who can see, hear, smell, feel, touch and adore the six senses of the beauty of the human spirit of its grandeur, its richness, its pricelessness and most of all – its freedom.

When I arrived in Tierra del Fuego, Argentina, at the Great and beautiful city of Ushuaia and into the majestic valley of La Pataia, Antarctica – it was the end of the world and the termination of my adventure at the present time.

I thank and appreciate the people of Argentina and the people of other countries who encourage me to the last steps of this great journey. I contacted my friends in Vancouver and my family in Quebec Canada and I quote:

“Every great story comes to a romantic end – like any adventurer’s warrior, he needs courage, passion, determination and faith to treasure his dream coming true.”

I am Pierre Paul Cayer – the Dream Walker. You don’t choose a life, you live one.

The logic of my adventures is to write a book “The Dream Walker” and to assure other seniors that life begins at 65. I also hope to inspire young people to be active and enjoy the good life.

I look forward to hearing “Hello” in different language. If you want to get a hold of me, you can email me at pierrepcayer@gmail.com.
